Freedom, Protests, and Hatred

Ever since Proposition 8 passed in California not only have our temples in California and Utah been vandalized and have been the site of protesters but also our churches. My friend who lives in California said when she went to church on Sunday there were protesters all around it. Men had to stand outside during church and watch over the vehicles to make sure nothing was vandalized. This is just sad. I understand this is a heated subject with those who are for this constitutional change, but they have taken it too far.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I like millions of others obviously believe in a marriage between only a man and a wife. I could not imagine the world any different, nor should we. And men having babies?? Come on. Like everything else i am pretty quiet usually about my feelings but the disrespect and hatred that the other side has shown went too far. Yes, we can be tolerant of each other and all of our different beliefs. Isn't that the privilege of living in a free America? But to hurt, intimidate, violate, and threaten those who oppose your beliefs is not OK.

The first presidency of the church came out with yet another statement about this proposition 8, you can read that here:

Oh, I feel for those that are having to deal with this firsthand. It is such a sad situation.

Ditto on your post.
