She's here

Wow! What an experience. We were so excited when we found out we were pregnant. To think the day actually came is weird. Time is sure slow being pregnant but then you look back and think I could have stayed pregnant a few more weeks.
All i prayed for of course after a healthy baby is a vaginal birth experience. Andrew was a c-section so i was determined to have this little one differently. Plus i couldn't imagine trying to recover from a c-section with a 2 year old.

Anyway, on Saturday August 8th at about 8 pm i started getting contractions. They bothered me a bit but not too painful and they were further apart. By 10 pm the contractions were like 12 minutes apart and then quickly got to be 7-10 minutes apart. Franco was over at a buddies watching UFC so i really didn't want to bother him, however i was chatting with 3 of my sisters and a friends and my sisters kept telling me to call him to come home because this was it. I did call Franco to come home and he was home by 11 but the contractions still didn't hurt so we went to bed. t 12:45 I had been having intense contractions 3-4 minutes apart and they hurt so i woke up franco and said lets go.
When we got to the hospital i was still at a 2 plus. The nurse said they would wait one hour to see if i progressed and if i didn't i would be sent back home. I couldn't imagine going home in this pain so franco gave me a blessing that everything would work out the way the Lord wanted it to and if this was the day then so be it and also if it was Heavenly Fathers will to help my body have her vaginally. Well after the dr not answering her pager for over an hour after being at the hospital for an hour i did dialate to a 3 so i was told i could stay and that i could have an epidural! Yippe..that was at like 4 or 5 am. They also gave me pitosin to make my contractions intense so i would dialate. Well by noon i was only dilated to a 5 and the nurse came in and told me she would check me again soon but i wasn't progressing so she was probably going to have to do a c-section. i as sad but remembered Franco's blessing to me and figured that is the way the Lord wants it. I texted my family to spread the sad news and got several text back that my family had all been praying for me and will continue to pray. About an hour later the Dr came in to check me and to her surprise she said, um you are completely dilated and the head is right there...get ready to push you are having a Vaginal Birth. At that point tears filled my eyes and I silently thanked my Father in Heaven for hearing and answering the prayers of so many.
Let me note also that my little sister Cindy wanted so bad to be there when i had the baby so i texted her at 6 am and told her i was at the hospital and it would be awhile so she didn't have to rush but next thing i know there she was all ready to wait out the ride with us.

The nurse told me it takes a while to push the baby out so her and Franco grabbed my legs and she had me start a push she counted to 6 then was like um stop, the babies head is right there let me grab a dr. Well 35 minutes later a dr shows up, my mom had also surprised me and walked in the door in between that time too, and when the dr said push i barely did then she had me stop and pulled out our little girl!

Addyson Raye DeMelo was born on Sunday August 9, 2009 at 1:58 pm.Her middle name Raye is after my mom Sherrie Raye. I hope Addyson grows up to have my moms qualities!
Now we are home and adjusting to 2 kids, no sleep, pain from the delivery areas, trying to breastfeed, and all the other joys that comes with a new addition. Thank you all for your prayers on our behalf. I am so grateful for the power of prayers and the Priesthood. I am blessed to be part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Also, thank you to Tami who watched Andrew so my mom could come down and be with me. Tami was in town for the weekend and just in case i had the baby she could be here but she made sure Andrew was taken care of for me so i could concentrate of giving birth, thanks Tami. We also had Kristy on webcam..well her web cam didn't work so Kristy & Jill just got to hear and talk while all this was going on. I am so lucky to have an amazing family!.

I got tears in my eyes as I read your experience. I am so glad you were able to have a V-back delivery. I am glad all went well and you are home adjusting. Enjoy that lil' one. Angela, I live in Saratoga Springs, what part of UT are you in? Maybe sometime we could get together in the future. Several months from now of course when you are feeling up to it. Congrats again!

Oh Ang I am so glad it's all over with, and I hope that you recover quickly. I also hope that my birth story is as good as yours, or should I say as easy! One push, I could only be so lucky with a 9 plus pounder. I will come and visit you when I feel like I can venture out, I have been sticking pretty close to home, because of too many contractions. I don't want a NICU baby. Only 10 more weeks to go.

Can I just say that I LOVE reading labor and delivery stories? I'm so glad that this all worked out for you the way you wanted. Everyone should get the right to experience the joy and pain of going through a vaginal birth! Good for you! And she's BEAUTIFUL! Is it too early to already say that she looks like you? CONGRATS!
