Saturday Fun..
What a glorious day. Even though Franco teases he is not good company, i can tell you that it is amazing to be with him and Andrew. We wanted to go somewhere Andrew could get exercise but still be mentally stimulated, so we decided on This is the Place Heritage Park. For those of you who are not familiar with this location here is some info:
This Is The Place Monument marks the spot where the Mormon Pioneers first entered the Salt Lake Valley and marks the end of the 1,300-mile Mormon trail. It was here that Brigham Young stopped his carriage in July 1847 and, after surveying the desert valley near the shores of the Great Salt Lake, declared, "This is the right place." On July 24, 1947, exactly 100 years after his declaration, a heroic-sized bronze sculpture of Young and two of his colleagues was placed atop a 60-foot pedestal overlooking the Valley.
Franco loves history so this was a perfect day out. The village is an actual living community. By that I mean there are actual people in the blacksmith store, bank, pharmacy, many of the older homes and general stores that dress like the pioneers and talk as they would. There are crops they are growing, rugs they are making, saddles they are fixing and making for the horses, and so much more. There is a petting place where you can touch all the farm animals..and oh i could go on and on. The place was amazing and so much fun. We enjoyed walking through the homes, seeing how it was back then. The guy at the pharmacy told me such great info about the medicine back then. There was a barbershop where we learned interesting info as well. Anyway, i had a blast with my two favorite guys in the whole world. if you live in Utah check it out, and if you don't well, if you ever come visit it is worth the trip!!!

I love "This is the Place". Every year I offer to go with the elementary kids on their field trip! Thankyou for reminding me how many fun things there are to DO and See so close by! Mom
